My Emergency Visit (MEV)

Innovation in our Waiting Room

NMHS and SCGH are trying to improve the waiting room both for our patients, and our staff. This is through the ECNC and MEV projects.

The Emergency Care Navigation Centre (ECNC)

Adjacent to the SCGH ED triage area and waiting room is our new digital powerhouse. Desks with multitudes of computer screens!

It is staffed with senior staff during busy waiting room hours.

These staff can review our waiting room patients virtually. They look at all the digital information available to them to get a picture of each patient. This may be EDIS, iSoft records, My Health Record, The aim is to expedite care (like give pain killers and start investigations) and to optimise patient safety.

My Emergency Visit (MEV)

This is a new application that has been developed as an NMHS innovation project. The aim is to empower patients and our staff, to improve the waiting room even further.

  • Patients will be able to register themselves on their own mobile device
  • Observations on waiting room patient will be able to be recorded digitally, and will alert staff if there are abnormalities
  • Tasks will be able to be requested and tracked
  • Patients will be able to be messaged

This is a pilot project which we aim to test, develop and improve as it goes along. Your patience, input and willingness to embrace change is much appreciated.
